Some part of the movie especially in the middle lost the grip with the narration. Sometimes her expressions resemble Trisha which is perfectly understandable as she is her Tamil counterpart. That was one of the biggest flaws in the movie. All throughout the movie I was thinking of how Shimbu would fit like a glove to the role of Karthik. Chaitanya is too young to get such role on his shoulders. So what went wrong with this movie? It was with Karthik. So beautifully depicted that you find yourself in a 3D movie adding the visual, auditory and nasal stimulations (fragrance of love)! If a girl could dare to stop her marriage owing to the pain caused by her confused feelings what more does a guy who has no expectations expect. Some parts of the movie moves you along with it…You could find Karthik within yourself loving Jessie and admiring her every inch of being a woman. If you ever imagine how it would be like to talk with your EX girlfriend after some years of separation then you would find a wonderful portrait of it in this movie. That’s the reason we remember Maddy (cheli), DCP Ramachandra (Gharshana) and now Karthik…. You see the whole movie in the way the main character sees. I would admire Goutham for his relentless desire to make protagonist narrate most of the movie. Not that they both belong to a different religion, not that he is younger than her but the fact that the whole thought process of the heroine is complex is enough to be made into a movie of two and a half hours. This dialogue underlines the complexity of the heroine’s character. Having said that, at some point, yes, women in the industry are objectified.“Badha ante naaku istam….ee bada nannu padaneee”. While I have seen that happen to actresses like Sridevi and Madhuri, and even now to some of my counterparts, there have been some really strong characters. Women as such are not being typically objectified as they were previously.
As for me, my characters have been strong and bold, albeit that happening unintentionally. What is important is that women themselves don’t resign themselves to just being a flower on the wall. But, yes, if I have to play the role of a girl who is supposed to be glamorous, then definitely I will try to achieve that. If you’re actually thinking something, then you can’t do the scene. I truly believe in going by the demand of the script and merging with the character, which is the hallmark of any good actor. In that way, both of us were very comfortable while shooting the scene.
So Mahesh Babu and I discussed it, little things like where we’d keep our hands and body language, so on and so forth. I felt it would be better if I discussed it with the co-actor so as to avoid any confusion. It didn’t elicit wolf whistles or cat calls among the audience since director Puri Jagannath had shot them aesthetically. If I can’t go and watch it with my family and friends, then I won’t do it. I would never do something that I can’t stand. In fact, if it wasn’t harped on, I doubt people would’ve realised it. It came naturally with the scene which was very intense, at the same time it was very brief. I don’t know why the lip-lock in 'Businessman' is being blown out of proportion. Pawan Kalyan surprised fans with his lip-lock in 'Theen Maar'.
